Fairfield residents asked to call 911 on cell phones rather than landlines

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Connecticut’s 911 systems are temporarily experiencing issues Tuesday afternoon, with Fairfield residents and others across the state being told to use cell phones to call 911 until further notice.

“911 services across Connecticut are experiencing issues, primarily affecting landlines attempting to call 911,” Fairfield police wrote on Facebook.

People who can’t reach 911 can also contact police by texting the state’s 911 number.

“Government officials and retailers are working diligently to resolve this issue,” Fairfield police said.
