ECM teams salivate over $1 billion for blocking Auckland Airport deal

Unlisted airports have been the gift that keeps on giving to dealmakers, but let’s not forget dual-listed Auckland International Airport, Auckland Council still needs to cash in its remaining $1.1 billion stake.

Sources told Street Talk investment banks are preparing for the council to pull the trigger on a mooted sale of its 11.03 per cent stake in Auckland Airport as early as this week. The board is holding 163.2 million shares following a NZ$800 million ($735 million) share sale in August 2023.
