Behind-the-scenes news on Samantha Irwin’s decision to leave WWE – PWMania

Ring announcer Samantha Irwin announced her retirement ahead of this week’s episode of WWE RAW. Lilian Garcia returned to WWE as Samantha’s replacement on RAW.

According to PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson, Irwin resigned from her position and it is believed that WWE was informed of her decision earlier on Monday.

Irwin then revealed on Twitter/X that she notified WWE of her decision months ago. Irwin was not actually released.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer explained why Irwin decided to leave the company.

“She (Samantha Irwin) has actually been thinking about it (leaving WWE) for a year. — She wants to do more with her music. It was just something she’d been talking about for a long, long time and finally pulled the trigger… It’s not the same as planning a trip to AEW without being 100 percent sure it won’t go. Ricochet even tweeted that she was not going and had no intention of going there.”
