The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have announced a three-year partnership with Kaiviti Silktails, giving Fijian talent a direct route into the club’s development programmes.

The Bulldogs and Silktails, who currently play in the NSWRL Flegg Jersey Cup, will merge ahead of the 2025 season, ending their partnership with the Roosters.

Former NRL star Wes Nakaima is coaching the Silktails, who finished last in their competition, and chairman Petero Civoniceva explained his organization is “excited”.

“There were many reasons why this transaction made sense for us,” he said in a statement.

“Watching their NRL team grow this year has won the hearts of all rugby league fans.

“The growth of the NRL team was built on what Phil Gould and Adam Hartigan did with their Pathways program and joining a strong program was paramount for us.”

Bulldogs boss Phil Gould is in Suva, Fiji, to broker the partnership and explained that star recruit William Kikau was influential in the deal.

“Over the past two seasons, the Bulldogs have strengthened our commitment to playing in Fiji, especially since bringing William Kikau to our club,” Gould said.
