Superman and Lois have just given the newly revived Clark a major setback, and behind the scenes Lex Luthor is only making things worse

Warning: Plot SPOILERS. Superman and Lois The “Perfectly Good Wedding” series is coming!

Tyler Hoechlin’s Clark Kent was killed in Superman and Lois Season 4 premiere, but who is familiar with the original? Death of Superman The storyline, or indeed any superhero story, would logically suggest that this would not remain permanent. Of course, at the end of last week’s episode, Clark was brought back to life after receiving the heart of the recently deceased Sam Lane, which was injected with Bruno Mannheim’s serum containing the Man of Steel’s blood. Now, three weeks into Season 4’s 2024 TV schedule, Superman has been reunited with his family and back to his normal self… well, almost.

Much of A Perfectly Good Wedding is about Kyle Cushing and Chrissy Beppo preparing for their upcoming wedding. (In short, Kyle and Chrissy decided not to go through with the wedding, but stayed together, and the former managed to win over the latter’s disapproving mother.) In the midst of this story, Clark discovered that his body was dead. not 100% after returning from the dead. As if that weren’t enough, even though Lex Luthor didn’t appear in this episode, he continued to make life difficult for the Kent family in at least one major way, if not more.

Superman’s powers have diminished

When Sam Lane’s heart was placed in Clark Kent’s body, Lara’s AI said she had concerns about how his body would handle the heart even if he came back to life. Of course, over the course of “A Perfectly Good Wedding” we see that Clark’s powers have diminished, as evidenced by the scar on his chest that hasn’t healed since that week, as well as the fact that he fell while he and the newly empowered Jonathan were flying. through the Arctic and he feels the effects of alcohol, to name just a few examples. While it is possible that these effects are temporary, Clark and Lois suggested that he may have to get used to them being permanent.

To be clear, Superman is still a force to be reckoned with, as evidenced by Jonathan’s rescue of Jonathan from one of Lex Luthor’s henchmen (more on that in a moment). But now we must consider the possibility that to the end Superman and Lois In Season 4, Clark won’t be as strong as he was in the first three seasons. The only consolation is that both his sons now have the same abilities, so they can pick up the slack on that front. However, Jonathan takes up the mantle of Superboy in this episode, while Jordan takes time away from his superhero exploits to figure things out.

Lex Luthor continues to make life difficult for the Kent family

“A Perfectly Good Wedding” was the first season four episode not to feature Michael Cudlitz’s Lex Luthor, but his presence was certainly felt. After weeks of surveillance, Jordan was finally able to locate Gretchen, the woman who had deceived Sam Lane and held him captive on Lex Luthor’s orders. Not feeling comfortable going onto the field, Jordan asked Jonathan to take Lois to Gretchen, whose real name was Cheryl Kimble. Although Cheryl was saddened to learn of Sam’s death, she refused to help Lois put Luthor behind bars because she had known him for 30 years and was well aware of what could happen to someone who betrayed him.

Unfortunately for Cheryl, the act of going out into the world with Luthor ordering her to lay low was enough to anger him. In the midst of Kayla and Chrissy’s near-wedding, Jordan and Jonathan heard a fire break out at a shopping mall in Metropolis. The latter flew to save the people trapped inside, and among them was not only Cheryl, she was handcuffed to the metal gate. In other words, the entire mall was set on fire as a cover for Cheryl’s murder. To make matters worse, one of Lex Luthor’s henchmen was waiting for Jonathan and attacked him with modern flamethrowers. Luckily, Superman flew in to save Jonathan, put out the rest of the fire, and neutralize the attacker, although Cheryl escaped in the process.

Remember, at this point the world still thinks Superman is dead. Superman and Loisso Clark ordered John Henry Irons to take the thug Luthor to the Department of Defense to avoid detection. Lois also planned to go to the Department of Defense to make sure the thug kept quiet about his meeting with the Man of Steel and see if she could convince him to turn on Lex Luthor. Problem solved, right? Wrong! At the end of A Perfectly Good Wedding, as Clark and Lois are getting closer, their phones are blowing up with news alerts saying that Superman is alive.

So how did this happen? While we can’t yet say with 100% certainty that Lex Luthor is responsible for this, two theories that come to mind lead to him. First, Cheryl returned to Luthor and told him what she saw in order to regain his favor. Secondly, there is another mole in the Department of Defense, and when they heard Luthor’s goon talk about how they were stopped by Superman, that mole relayed that information to Luthor. Either way, I find it hard to believe that any party other than Cudlitz’s character leaked the information. Of course, then you have to ask why he didn’t just send Doomsday to kill Superman again, but that move also fits with his pettiness.
