China seeks cooperation with Japan amid rising tensions – Firstpost

China is committed to working with Japan to develop a relationship that is “mutually cooperative and non-threatening,” Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told Japanese National Security Adviser Takeo Akiba during a meeting on Monday.

During the phone call, Wang expressed hope that Japan’s new cabinet will bring a fresh perspective and that China-Japan relations can make a new beginning, state news agency Xinhua reported.

Both sides agreed to continue to use the mechanism of high-level political dialogue between China and Japan and maintain regular contacts.
