LR publishes recommended practices for working with FLOW turbine support structures

Lloyd’s Register (LR) has published its first Recommended Practice (RP) for floating offshore wind turbine support structures.

Designed in accordance with established international codes and standards, including IEC 61400-3-2 and ISO 19000 series, LR’s RP facilitates the development of floating offshore wind turbines (FOWT).

The document offers guidance throughout the project life cycle, covering important aspects such as site assessment, design, manufacturing, transportation, installation, commissioning and operation of the FOWT.

“At LR, we have been a strong supporter of floating wind development since its inception,” says Neil Morgan, offshore wind engineering manager at LR.

“Today we are involved in numerous projects in this sector, ranging from approval in principle to prototypes destined for installation.”
