An urgent search is underway after a child was attacked by a stranger in a Perth shopping centre.

Shocking CCTV footage has been released of a woman attacking a two-year-old girl being carried by her mother in a random attack at a busy shopping centre.

The horrific incident happened at the Park Center on the Albany Highway in East Victoria Park in south-east Perth at approximately 1.25pm ​​on Tuesday.

The footage shows a woman with a bleached, shaved head approaching the mother and baby.

Seconds later. she reached out and attacked the girl before her mother quickly moved away.

After this, the woman fled the scene.

The horrific incident (pictured) happened at the shopping center located at Hawaiian Park in East Victoria Park in south-east Perth at 1.25pm ​​on Tuesday.

The baby suffered facial injuries.

The woman is unknown to both mother and child.

The hunt continues for the woman, who is described as having a medium build and wearing a pink tank top, gray shorts with white stripes and blue trainers.

The incident follows yet another shocking attack on an innocent child.

In August, nine-month-old baby Luca was shot and killed by a stranger while on a picnic with his mother in a Brisbane park.

The woman (pictured), who was wearing a pink tank top and gray shorts with white stripes on the sides, then fled the scene without police being able to track her down.

Police say the man approached the boy and poured a thermos of hot coffee on him, burning his face and chest.

The 33-year-old man was identified by Chinese media after he allegedly left the country using his own passport the day before he was identified by Queensland police.

Luca suffered severe burns to 60 percent of his body and has undergone four surgeries and may also require skin grafts.
