Guide to 5 Star Tera Raid Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Gengar

Guide to 5 Star Tera Raid Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Gengar

Not every Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be a major challenge, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take advantage of this Halloween special Gengar event.

While you may not receive an exclusive tag for completing the five-star Gengar Tera raid during this event, The Pokémon Company is taking part in the Trick or Treat event by giving away extra goodies to everyone who participates. This means you’ll be able to collect bonus rare candies and special items, while also running the Mass Outbreak event with even more Ghost-type Pokémon at the same time.

Although the Gengar Tera Raid is only a five-star event, it still uses the same event schedule as seven-star events to decide when these raids will appear more frequently in Palday for a limited time.

Five-star Gengar Tera raids will begin at 7:00 PM CT on October 28th and end at 6:59 PM CT on October 31st. Unlike seven-star raids, there will not be a repeat of this special Gengar Tera raid.

Since the Gengar-Tera raids in this event are five stars, you will be able to easily spot them on your map as they usually have a white glow to distinguish them from normal raids.

You’ll need to unlock access to five-star Tera raids by completing the main story of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet before it even becomes available. To activate the event itself, simply connect to the Internet and open the Poké Portal News section – there you will see current events and update your game to the latest raid rotation.

While Gengar doesn’t have the same power as in previous Pokémon games, it shouldn’t be underestimated how powerful it can be, especially when it has Tera Raid boosts on its side.

This event is the perfect chance to challenge and capture the powerful Gengar, but you will need to confront him before you can catch him. In this case, the biggest threat is its Ghost-type moves because it’s Tera Ghost, giving those moves a 2.25 attack bonus of the same type rather than the normal 1.5 multipliers because Gengar is naturally a Ghost-type.

Since Wraith’s damage is the biggest issue, you can use a strong Dark-type counter like Hydreigon or Roaring Moon to take less damage and respond with strong, super-effective moves. Umbreon is a solid support option here as well, as he can use Taunt, Will, and Growl to help your teammates while using his bulk to avoid early KOs.
