During the Cleveland Browns’ 21–14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, starting quarterback Deshaun Watson fell to the ground in the second quarter, potentially tearing his Achilles, before falling to the turf.

Fan reaction was mixed afterward, with some fans cheering or booing Watson, upsetting his teammates who had gathered with him on the field to show their support.

Several Cleveland players shared their thoughts on the reaction, addressing fans who reacted negatively to Watson’s injury.

For Browns radio hosts Ken Carman and Anthony Lima, Monday’s discussion centered on whether the rift between Browns fans and franchise players will be an ongoing problem.

Lima started the segment by asking if it would be “players versus fans for the rest of the year” following Sunday’s backlash (via X).

Carman responded in the affirmative, suggesting the rift could deepen.

A radio presenter at the game said the fans’ reaction to Watson’s injury was “a very vocal and very small minority”.

He added that most fans did not react, leaving the team open to criticism from those silent fans who were categorized in the same category.

“They will remember it; they’ll definitely remember it,” Carman said of fans, including those who didn’t respond to Watson’s injury.

“A team that has been completely flawed this year better be perfect or it will get even worse,” Carman warned.

Cleveland’s next game will also be at home as the Browns continue their three-game homestand with AFC North rival Baltimore coming to town this Sunday.
