Health services unite in leadership development

Led by GOTAFE Acting Professional and Creative Services Coordinator Kerry Symes, participants were provided with practical tools and support to identify their unique leadership qualities and develop skills that will help them become resilient leaders in the future.

The program is invaluable in driving growth and ensuring future leaders are prepared to address challenges in the healthcare sector.

On behalf of the Murray Health Partnership, Kerang District Health Chief Executive Kelly Byron-Gray congratulated the participants and faculty for delivering another fantastic emerging leaders programme.

Ms Byron-Gray provided an overview of the key priorities of the Loddon Mallee Health Network, including a commitment to ongoing leadership development, which is also referenced in the Victorian Health Plan.

“It’s really rewarding to watch staff develop key skills throughout the program and to see what they do with their projects in their health services,” she said.

Echuca Regional Health Executive Director of People and Culture Angela Hussey commented in her opening remarks on the importance of partnerships across the region to ensure sustainable and broad-based leadership development.

“This type of collaboration not only opens up opportunities for development and career advancement for participants, but also increases the pool of leadership talent our region can access,” Ms. Hussey said.

“We are really proud of the success of this program, with a total of 60 participants completing it over the past two years.”

Murray’s leadership program has been running successfully for two years, and preparations for recruiting the next group of leaders will begin in February 2025.
