As Diwali approaches, the excitement for the festival of lights is palpable across the world. Not only in India, but also residents of distant countries are preparing for the celebrations. This global enthusiasm is captured in a touching video of New Zealand police officers performing bhangra at a Diwali event.

The video begins with the host announcing, “Here we start with a Punjabi folk dance… Bhangra.” After this, two uniformed policemen enter the stage. Soon other officers join them, and together they perform a traditional dance to a cheerful tune, joined by participants of different nationalities.

Dwayne Wichman-Evans, events director for BNZ’s Diwali festival in Auckland, said: “We’re looking for a variety of performances and food options from all parts of India – we want all regions represented.” He also said, “This is an opportunity to be part of an event that celebrates diversity and brings the community together.”
