Former South Australian councilor accused of stalking asks 7NEWS Adelaide reporter about date outside court

A 7NEWS Adelaide TV reporter covering a story where a former local councilor facing charges of stalking appeared in court was asked out on a date by the man moments after he was chased down the street after leaving a building.

Ex-Onkaparinga councilor Robert De Jonge appeared in Christie Beach Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with six counts of aggravated stalking.

Prosecutors argued in court that he used a tracking device to stalk his victim and constantly left notes on the windshield of her car.

The former adviser’s lawyers said three of his computers and mobile devices were confiscated illegally.

Outside court, 7NEWS court reporter Hannah Foord asked De Jonge if he would fight the charges, to which he replied: “Of course I didn’t do anything wrong, Hannah.”

Another De Jonge critic was also present at Tuesday’s trial and laughed sarcastically when De Jonge told the film crew that he had never done anything wrong.

He then chased him outside the courthouse, shouting, “Can you hear me?” and “Come on, boy.”

De Jonge ran away and then returned to where Foord was waiting for her in the crew’s car and asked her a strange question.

“By the way, you’re a nice girl, if you want to go somewhere,” De Jonge said in the video.

“Anyway, I have to go to the police station, I have business to do.”

De Jonge will next appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later this year.
