Every October, co-ops across the country celebrate Co-op Month. This year’s theme The future is collaborationis an opportunity to raise awareness among co-op members, clients, employees and the public about the differences in co-op.

As our world continues to evolve, co-ops will continue to work together to build a better future for everyone, as they have done for decades. From farmer co-ops to worker co-ops, from credit unions to mutual insurance, from housing co-ops to energy co-ops, co-op businesses are thriving throughout the US economy, where one in three people are members of co-ops.

As you celebrate this month, think about the principles and values ​​that guide your co-op and how those values ​​differentiate you from other business models. Assess how your cooperative can continue to meet the economic, social and cultural needs of your members and your community in an ever-changing, dynamic environment.
