Greenfield Child Death Cold Case; The state is expected to calm down on Tuesday.

MILWAUKEE – The state is expected to finalize its case Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the case of Ronald Schroeder, who is accused of killing his infant daughter Katherine in 1991. The defense will call its first witness.

The newborn baby’s multiple bruises and broken bones are part of a pattern of abuse that prosecutors say Ronald Schroeder inflicted on more than just the child he is accused of killing.

Dr. Lynn Sheets released a statement on Monday, October 21st.

The video, dated August 24, 1991, shows the Shredders at a video store. This video shows seven-week-old Katherine Schroeder.

“For short periods of time, you can see her face,” said Dr. Lynn Sheets, a professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a pediatrician who specializes in child abuse.

Hours after the video, the Schroeders called 911. Katherine was not breathing. She was rushed to a Wisconsin day care center.

Doctors worked for several hours to resuscitate her and eventually managed to get a heartbeat.

During cross-examination, Schroeder’s defense suggested that Katherine’s injuries may have occurred earlier and gradually worsened.

Prosecutors say it was a pattern of abuse seen against Ronald Schroeder’s other child years later, and physical abuse that extended beyond the infants to his own wife – and mother Katherine.
