A West Perth company has a hand in designing a first-of-its-kind battery recycling plant for German auto giant Mercedes-Benz.

The plant opened on Monday in Kuppenheim in southern Germany and will house a new facility capable of shredding old lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles and recovering leftover lithium, nickel and cobalt for reuse in new batteries. .
