UNC had Demon June rush for 407 yards in Jacksonville’s win over D.H. Conley

On Friday night, the 3-star UNC commit had the best rushing performance of any North Carolina High School Athletic Association athlete in the 2020s.

Jacksonville High School’s Demon June rushed for 407 yards and six touchdowns in the Cardinals’ 62-43 win over D.H. Conley. June did it in just 23 carries, according to Jacksonville stats on MaxPreps. He averaged 17.7 yards per attempt.

That’s the fastest rushing yards by any NCHSAA player since Quinton Cooley had 413 yards in 2018. Cooley, currently a student at Liberty University, is one of the most prolific running backs in college football.

The 407 yards would rank 32nd in the NCHSAA record books.

Jacksonville ran for 699 yards as a team in the contest. That number will be the 10th-highest single-game team total in state history once it’s in the record books.

June committed herself to Caroline in August.

On the season, the Cardinals are 6-1 overall and tied for three-way first place in the Big Carolina 3A/4A Conference. June rushed for 1,055 yards and 14 touchdowns in seven games.
