What to expect on the Moon Lantern Trail this year?

Mark your calendar for an enchanting experience on the Moonlight Lantern Trail, part of the OzAsia Festival, taking place from 24 to 27 October 2024 in Tarntanya Wama (Pinky Flat). Kicking off the weekend celebrations, the Moon Lantern Trail honors the rich harvest festival traditions and stories from across Asia.

The area is beautiful and inviting during the day, but as the sun sets, the banks of the Currawirra Parry/Torrens River transform into a mesmerizing wonderland of light and sound. With over a dozen giant lanterns illuminating the way, visitors can stroll through a magical atmosphere that will captivate the senses.

One of the standout attractions is the stunning Hong Kong Dragon Lantern, an impressive 40 meter long dragon.

Showcasing the best of Asian and Asian-Australian art and culture, OzAsia Festival is curated by artistic and executive producer Jun-Yi Kwok.

“We’re thrilled to host some of the biggest artists in Asia and Australia this spring,” June said.

“As the sun shines brighter and the days get warmer, it’s the perfect time to leave winter behind and gather with your loved ones at the OzAsia Festival.”

Families can enjoy a delightful mix of entertainment, including delicious food stalls, traveling shows, puppet shows and live music to keep everyone entertained. Children can take part in creative workshops led by talented Adelaide artists and local residents.

Festival highlights include interactive installations, culturally inspired performances and food experiences showcasing the best of Asian cuisine.

Adelaide Festival Center CEO and Artistic Director Douglas Gauthier says Ozasia is the first festival of its kind in the country.

“The OzAsia Festival prides itself on engaging with Asian and Asian-Australian art, culture and ideas across all art forms,” he said.

“June’s program, now in its seventeenth year, continues our rich tradition, demonstrating the power that art has to unite, inspire and delight us.”
