Coronation Street favorite asked to quit as heartbreak becomes too much | Soap

Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) has fallen on hard times following the death of her brother Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) in Coronation Street.

Paul died in September after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease and the family is trying to move on with their lives without him.

Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) recently asked Gemma if she wanted to return to work at the Rovers and, against the wishes of Chesney Brown (Sam Aston), she agreed.

However, her first shift didn’t go very well as she struggled to take her mind off Paul.

A conversation with Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) about his beliefs that heaven doesn’t exist left her upset, and Debbie Webster’s (Sue Devaney) attempt to offer support left Gemma even more stunned.

After giving her some time, Jenny and Keith Green (Jacob Roberts) tried to comfort her in the back room.

When Gemma said she thought she was ready to get back to work but it reminded her of Paul everywhere, Keith suggested she take up her quads and go away for a while.

He said he had a friend who owned a cottage in Cumbria that he could get for free and encouraged Gemma to take up the offer.

However, Gemma wasn’t sure, noting that she couldn’t afford not to work.

Returning home, Chesney found Gemma looking at photographs of Paul and explained that she had tried to relive happy memories, but it didn’t work.

She then told Chesney all about Keith’s vacation proposal and, to her surprise, Chesney agreed.

He advised her to accept his proposal from Keith and promised that he could take care of everything while she was away.

Finally Gemma relented and agreed to go on the trip. Will this help?
