As a result of Russian strikes on the Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk region, three were killed and two were wounded

On October 21, Russia attacked the towns of Kurakhovo and Mirnograd in the Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk region, killing three people and injuring two others, local authorities said.

The Eastern Front near Pokrovsk has been the scene of fierce fighting and the center of Russia’s offensive in the Donetsk region for several months now. The city is an important logistics center for Ukrainian forces.

The Russian strike took place around 3:00 pm local time in Mirnograd, which is just seven kilometers (five miles) from Pokrovsk. A man and a woman were killed and another man was injured. He received shrapnel wounds, acting head of the city’s military administration Yuri Tretyak told the Kyiv Independent newspaper.

33 houses and outbuildings were damaged in the city.

Russian troops also attacked Kurakhovo, located west of Russian-occupied Donetsk and about 30 km (18 miles) from the city of Pokrovsk. One person was killed and another was injured.

As a result of the strike, a five-story building was damaged, as well as an administrative building in Kurakhovo, said the governor of the Donetsk region, Vadim Filashkin.

Earlier in the day, the Ukrainian National Guard said Russian troops were attempting to storm the Selidovo sector in the Donetsk region using large numbers of infantry. The town of Selidovo is located approximately 25 kilometers (15 miles) from Kurakhovo.
