Man killed and another injured in stabbing at Hamilton community center

A man has died and another has been taken to hospital after being stabbed at a community center in South Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to the Burnbank Center in Hamilton at around 3.50pm on October 21 following reports of two men injured.

At the scene, doctors pronounced the 36-year-old man dead. A 59-year-old man was taken to hospital, his condition is unknown.

An investigation into the circumstances of the incident has begun.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At approximately 3.50pm on Monday 21 October 2024, we received a report of two men injured at Burnbank Center in Hamilton.

“Emergency personnel arrived and a 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The 59-year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

“An investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.”
