RICHMOND, VA (October 21, 2024) – Northeast midfielder/forward. Alex Mega, Hofstra Jr. Pique RoosMonmouth freshman Claire Campinand Northeastern freshman Juana Gonzalez-Peiro are the CAA Field Hockey Weekly Award winners for the week ending October 20th.

FORWARD PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alex Mega, Northeast
sophomore | Midfield/Forward | East Greenwich, Rhode Island / East Greenwich

Mega had an impressive weekend, helping extend Northeastern’s winning streak to seven straight games. On Friday, the Huskies faced Delaware in conference play, with Mega at the forefront of the offense, tallying the eventual game-winner in the 14th series.th minute. The Rhode Islander hit her first double of the season against Maine in a 4-2 win. Mega scored five goals in the year following her performances.

DEFENDER OF THE WEEK
Pique Roos, Hofstra
Junior | Goalkeeper | Rotterdam, The Netherlands / Rotterdam Montessori Lyceum
The Roos have remained loyal to the Hofstra goal all season, and this weekend was no exception. The Dutchwoman was strong between the posts for the Pride, making six saves on the road to earn Hofstra’s first conference win of the season over William & Mary. Two days later, Roos found form and recorded a further eight stops in a 1-0 defeat to Fairfield.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Claire Campin, Monmouth
Freshman | Forward | Hawley, PA / Honesdale

After a five-day break, Kampen and the Hawks took the field again to take on Towson in CAA action. It didn’t take long for the freshman forward to find the back of the net, with Kampen stealing the ball 37 seconds later to set the tone for Monmouth’s 4-1 win. The Pennsylvanian has four goals this season.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Juana Gonzalez-Peiro, Northeast
Freshman | Forward | Miami, FL/Don Soffer Aventura High School

Gonzalez-Peyrou opened her collegiate scoring tally in the first quarter of Northeastern’s matchup with CAA rival Delaware. Ten minutes into the contest, the Floridian received the ball at the back post and smashed it into the cage to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. Gonzalez-Peiro’s goal makes her the first rookie on the team to score a goal this season.
