Fox Sports college football expert Joel Klatt released his top 10 college football rankings after an action-packed Week 8. There were several battles between ranked contenders this week and some were close calls, making it difficult for Joel Klatt to sort out his rankings.

The 2024 season will feature a 12-team College Football Playoff, so there’s a chance any of Klatt’s top teams could make the playoffs even if they don’t win their respective conference.

Week eight featured two SEC heavyweight bouts. The first was between Tennessee and Alabama; two teams that had disappointing defeats on their record. The game was a defensive battle, with Alabama leading 7–0 at the half, Tennessee’s offense woke up, outscoring Alabama 24–10 and winning 24–17. The game ended with an interception by Jalen Milroe.

The second best game in the SEC was between the Texas Longhorns and Georgia Bulldogs. Many people, including College GameDay, Aaron Murray and Joel Klatt himself, predicted the Longhorns would get a close or dominant home win, but Georgia had other plans. The Bulldogs dominated Texas en route to an impressive 30-15 victory.

This coming week will be Georgia’s bye week, but it will feature several matchups that could impact the college football ratings. The LSU Tigers will play the Texas A&M Aggies. Notre Dame will play undefeated Navy and the Alabama Crimson Tide will host the Missouri Tigers.

Honorable Mentions: Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M Aggies, Iowa Cyclones, BYU Cougars, Notre Dame Fighting Irish
