Fairfield County Fair Flower Show

Fairfield County Fair Flower Show

The Federated Garden Clubs of Fairfield County held their fall flower show, “Preserve, Protect and Plan for Our Future,” on Oct. 7 at the Fairfield County Fairgrounds Art Hall. The Basil Garden Club has hosted the Bremen Garden Club, the Carroll Community Garden Club and the Bremen Mystic Gardeners Youth Club. These clubs are members of the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs. The show was judged by Ian Stein, an OAGC Accredited Flower Show Judge from Reynoldsburg, Ohio. The show included educational exhibits from the Ohio Pollinator Habitat Initiative and the Fairfield Community Action Agency. Hoffman’s “Baltimore Flowers” presented a commercial exhibition.

Mary Varga of the Bremen Garden Club received the Best of Show award for her elongated lamp and the judge’s award for her eclectic design. The best horticultural exhibit at the show was a dahlia grown by Parklynn Bigham of Lancaster. Gigi Carpenter won Junior Best of Show for her terrarium. Exhibition visitors voted for their favorite design and chose “Deserts,” a design by Sharon Anderson of the Basil Garden Club using succulents and rocks that won the People’s Choice Award.
