Actress Brooke Shields emotionally wonders why her mom let her do intimate scenes when she was just 11 – Celebrities

Brooke Shields burst into tears as she recalled her mother’s decision to let her film intimate scenes at the age of 11.

Shields, 59, was arguably one of the most famous faces of the ’80s. After starting her career as a child model, Shields went on to star in films such as Sweet baby Blue Lagoon And Endless love at a young age.

However, in recent years, the actor’s early career has become more critical, with many questioning the decision to allow a child to play sexual roles alongside older actors.

Shields herself has since reflected on this in a two-part documentary called Sweet Baby: Brooke Shields watch the trailer below:

In one particularly heartbreaking moment, Brooke, now an adult with children of her own, can be seen recalling her mother’s decision to let her star in cute baby at such a young age.

In the controversial film, Shields plays a prostitute living in New Orleans, where she kisses co-star Keith Carradine (who was 27 at the time) and also appears naked in several scenes.

While casting a child in a sexualized role sounds disgusting these days, Shields’ mother was present during filming and allowed the events to happen, telling her daughter it was just “an act.”

Understandably, the decision horrified her two daughters, Rowan and Grier, who in the documentary questioned their mother about whether she would allow them to appear in such a sexy film at a young age.

“Would you let us (do this) at the age of 11?” eldest daughter Rowan asks in the clip, to which Shields responds by breaking down in tears and saying “no.”

cute baby This is not the only sexualized film that Shields’ mother Teri allowed her to make of minors. Blue Lagoon saw her act out intimate scenes at the age of 14.

Speaking about her mother’s decision to allow her to be sexualized in films and modeling campaigns, during an interview with Sunday Times in 2023, Shields admitted that she struggled to justify Teri’s actions to her own daughters.

“It was hard for me not to justify my mom to them,” she explained.

“I mean, I could say, ‘Oh, that was the time,’ or, ‘Oh, that was the art.’ But I don’t know why she thought everything was fine.”

Despite his mother’s actions, the actor added that she doesn’t completely blame her, explaining that it was difficult to be angry.

“Everybody always wanted me to be mad at her,” Shields said. “But I was too sad to bear the anger when I saw how insecure she was.”
