Police officer bitten on face while responding to domestic disturbance

A South Australian police officer was allegedly bitten in the face while responding to a family disturbance in Adelaide’s west overnight.

Police tasered the woman, saying it was because she was acting aggressively as she was being taken from her Woodville Gardens home around 12:20 p.m.

Witnesses accused the police of using excessive force.

“Last night it was just terrible what the police did, taser a woman four times – I thought it was funny,” one neighbor said.

After reviewing body camera footage, South Australia Police told 7NEWS there were no issues with the response and noted the stun gun was only used once.

The officer was taken to the hospital with bites to his forearm and face.

A 23-year-old woman was also taken to hospital for examination.

She was later charged with assaulting an emergency worker and resisting arrest and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on November 20.
