New Order will tour in 2025 with first show at the RAC Arena in Perth

Iconic synth-pop pioneers New Order today announced an Australian tour starting in March 2025.

The tour will see them perform all the biggest hits from their impressive four decades, building on material from their 10th album, which will take them to Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney in March 2025.

In their first Australian tour since 2020, New Order will play the RAC Arena (Perth) on March 5, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl (Melbourne) on March 8, Riverstage (Brisbane) on March 11, and conclude with two shows at the magnificent Sydney Opera House. Station square at home on March 14 and 15.

In a statement, the band said they are thrilled to be touring Australia again.

The band grew out of the breakup of Joy Division following the death of lead singer Ian Curtis. Out of this tragedy, the band members created a new band that had a more electronic sound than their previous band.

The band first visited Australia in 1982, shortly after the release of their debut album. Movement. They have returned several times over the years, captivating Australian audiences with their unique blend of post-punk and electronic music.

Originally formed by Bernard Sumner, who took on vocals along with guitarist, bassist Peter Hook and drummer Stephen Morris, they were soon joined by keyboardist Gillian Gilbert.

They had numerous acclaimed albums in the 1980s, including Movement, Powerful corruption and lies, Low standard of living, Brotherhood And Technique.

One of their biggest hits was Blue Monday which was only released as a 12″ extended edition. Some of their other favorite tunes include “Shock”, “Bizarre Love Triangle”, “True Faith” And Confusion.

After the band released their Republic In 1993, the members went their separate ways to pursue various side projects. Bernard Sumner had already formed Electronic with guitarist Johnny Marr from The Smiths, and Peter Hook had formed his own bands Revenge and Monaco. Funny now married Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert have formed a duo called The Other Two.

Over the next five years, the band members spent time apart before coming back together for a reunion in 1998. In 2001, they returned to recording music and released four more albums, their last album being released in 2015. The music is complete.

Gillian Gilbert left the group to focus on raising her family’s children and was replaced by Phil Cunningham.

Peter Hook announced his departure in 2009, saying he could no longer work with his bandmates; he formed the band Freebass and now tours the world with his own band, Peter Hook and The Light, performing hits from Joy Division and New Order.

Gilbert returned to the band in 2011 and Tom Chapman from Bad Lieutenant joined as the new bassist.
