The NSW Amateur Championship heads to Greater Western Sydney in 2025, where Stonecutters Ridge and Lynnwood Country Club provide the perfect backdrop for Australia’s most historic match play championship.

Founded in 1898, the New South Wales Amateur Championship is one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious golf championships. Its roll of honor includes some of the biggest names in golf, many of whom have achieved international success, including major championships and victories on the world’s biggest tours.

Previous men’s champions include Harrison Crowe (2022), who became the first player since the legendary Jim Ferrier to win the NSW Amateur and NSW Open titles in the same year.

Other notable champions include Newcastle’s Jake Higginbottom, 2015 NSW Open champion Ben Eccles (VIC) and Western Australia’s Jarryd Felton. Both Eccles and Felton have multiple victories on the PGA Tour of Australasia.

In the past, major champions such as Michael Campbell (New Zealand 1992, New South Wales, US Open 2005) and Jim Ferrier (New South Wales, New South Wales 1931, 34) have also emerged from the tournament ranks. 37, 38 – 1947, USPGA).

Equally noteworthy is the women’s honors board, led by seven-time major winner and World Golf Hall of Fame member Carrie Webb.

The list also includes 2023 LPGA Lotte Championship winner Grace Kim and three-time winner Nikki Campbell.

Golf NSW CEO Olivia Wilson said the tournament would attract around 264 golfers and strong interest from international players.

“We are thrilled to welcome the best amateur golfers from around the world to test their skills on two varied and challenging courses.

“Stonecutters Ridge and Linwood offer opposing challenges that will test the field.

“The championship layout of Stonecutters Ridge, designed by Greg Norman, will challenge competitors with its challenging layout and interesting elevation changes, while Linwood’s expansive fairways and water hazards will challenge players’ accuracy and control.”

The NSW Amateur will take place from Monday 20 January to Friday 24 January.
