Hamilton Schools Foundation honors outstanding teachers

This week, the Hamilton County Schools Foundation honors outstanding teachers and alumni.

Ahead of the Heroes Awards luncheon on Friday, several outstanding teachers were surprised in their classrooms. All teachers were nominated by their peers.

Winner of the Rock Point Learning Community Teacher Award.

Madeline Krafka

Madeline Krafka was nominated by her associate director, David Makelani.

He says her remarkable commitment to revamping the 6th grade science curriculum stands out as she has successfully implemented structured conversation strategies to promote collaboration among her students.

She is a recipient of the Rock Point Learning Community Teacher Award.

Recipient of the Midtown Education Community Teacher Hero Award.

Tiffany Wiltshire

Tiffany Wiltshire was nominated by her deputy director, Dr. Desiree Green.

Mrs. Wiltshire is said to be a model of warm behavior.

She goes above and beyond to build genuine, quality connections with students. As a result, students are willing to trust their voice and take risks they might not normally be confident in taking.

She receives the Midtown Education Community Teacher Hero Award.

Winner of the “Hero of an Innovative Teacher” award.

Tara Kemp

Tara Kemp was nominated by Jessica Holloway, Innovation Coach.

Tara is said to be doing her best to provide culinary education to students through culinary training at Battle Academy.

Her classes combine culinary and content skills to create a highly engaging learning experience.

She partners with numerous local businesses and organizations to improve the quality of lessons and connect students with the community.

She receives the Innovative Teacher Hero Award.

The teachers will be honored with a luncheon on Friday, Oct. 25, at the convention center. Local 3 News will be highlighting more educators throughout the week.
