24th Congressional District candidates Carbajal and Cole express different priorities

San Luis Obispo County In the upcoming election, voters will choose a congressional representative from California’s 24th District. This year, Democrat Salud Carbajal faces Republican Thomas Cole.

Carbajal is seeking his fifth term in Congress. He said part of his plan would be to continue to grow the economy on the Central Coast if re-elected.

“We have created 13,000 jobs, and I look forward to continuing to bring those resources and investments to the community,” Carbajal said.

Carbajal’s campaign said he will focus on issues such as housing, health care, food costs and child care.

Thomas Cole’s campaign website says some of his priorities are limiting immigration, supporting school vouchers and extracting oil and natural gas.

“I will strive for peace, an end to proxy wars, and I will strive to keep our borders safe and secure, fully verifiable,” Cole said.

In a post attached to Cole X’s account, he said he would also propose legislation that would require DNA testing and the creation of an identity database for anyone who attends public school, receives food stamps or Social Security, and other social services.
