Sir Chris Hoy to leave UK with family after terminal cancer diagnosis

Sir Chris Hoy has announced he will leave the United Kingdom with his family after announcing he has terminal cancer.

The Olympic legend announced his prostate cancer had reached stage four and also revealed his wife Sarah had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

The heartbreaking news also means Hoy has “two to four years” left, as he also revealed his biggest fear was that his children would find out about it at school from their classmates.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, the six-time Olympic champion said: “I saw your dad on the news last night and he’s going to die.”

To protect his children, Hoy also said he and his wife would take his children away for half term to shield them from the media storm.

“I hope the dust settles,” he said. “You know what? It could happen. If that happens, we’ll deal with it.”

While Hoy said they have told their two children about his cancer diagnosis, they have not yet spoken about Sarah’s multiple sclerosis condition.

In his book All That Matters, with extracts provided to The Times, Hoy wrote: “Another scan just before Christmas confirmed Sarah had “very active and aggressive” multiple sclerosis and needed urgent treatment.

“This is the closest I’ve come to, like, you know, why me? Just what? What’s going on here?
