Amit Shah launches ₹300 crore farmer welfare schemes during NDDB Diamond Jubilee celebrations

Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah inaugurated several farmer welfare schemes worth ₹300 crore during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) at Anand, Gujarat and also on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shri Tribhuvandas Patel . Union Minister of Panchayati Raj, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Shri Rajeev Ranjan Singh and other dignitaries were present.

In his speech, Shri Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to launching “White Revolution 2.0” to expand milk production and strengthen the cooperative sector. The revolution aims to empower one lakh dairy enterprises by ensuring greater participation of rural farmers in the dairy sector.

Shri Shah paid tributes to Tribhuvandas Patel, who played a key role in organizing cooperative societies for farmers, benefiting more than 2 million farmers, especially women. He noted that Tribhuvandas Ji’s vision helped create a cooperative movement that is now creating businesses worth thousands of crores of rupees.

The minister highlighted the role of the NDDB since its establishment in 1964 by the then Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, who made significant contributions to the White Revolution and galvanized rural communities. He noted the confidence and prosperity that rural women have gained through Amul’s cooperative model, which currently generates ₹60,000 crore annually.

Shri Amit Shah also spoke about the Gobardhan Scheme launched to convert cow dung into gas and fertilizer, promoting environmental sustainability and benefiting farmers through carbon credits. He announced the foundation stone of Mother Dairy’s ₹210 crore fruit and vegetable processing facility and the launch of new ghee products from Uttarakhand and Gir regions.

Additionally, the minister highlighted India’s leadership in global milk production, with 231 million tonnes produced annually, surpassing the United States. The government is committed to expanding the cooperative sector by bringing together all eight million milk-producing families to ensure fair prices and equitable growth.

Shri Shah appreciated the role of NDDB in supporting the development of agriculture and dairy industry through new initiatives such as Make in India program for dairies and expansion of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) network. The celebration highlights India’s commitment to developing cooperatives, rural empowerment and expanding the dairy sector.
