North Melbourne Kangaroos are in talks to sell domestic game to Western Australia

North Melbourne is in talks to sell Western Australia’s two home games and host West Coast and Fremantle in its state.

The Kangaroos are in talks with the state government to move home games to Perth and could play both WA clubs sometime in June.

It is understood these matches will be played on back-to-back weekends and talks are underway about the use of Optus Stadium.

North Melbourne has a long-standing agreement with Tasmania to stage games at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena but is believed to be starting to make plans beyond 2028, when the state gets its own team.

The Roos play four games a year in Hobart. They have won three of their last five matches at Optus Stadium.

North Melbourne currently play a minimum of seven home games in Victoria and that number will not be reduced as part of this deal.

The Dockers and Eagles are pushing for an extra game at home to make up for the heavy travel load.
