Plans unveiled to replace Wellington toilet block destroyed in crash | Somerset leveler

PLANS have been submitted to replace a Wellington toilet block that was demolished after being damaged in an accident.

Wellington City Council (WTC) has submitted a planning application to Somerset Council to replace the toilet block on Longfort Road.

This comes after the former toilet block was damaged in an accident in December 2022, rendering the building unsafe and later demolished.

“The municipality is keen to replace the original toilets to meet the needs of the community and is therefore seeking to construct a new building with two separate toilets and a DAP toilet with changing facilities, as well as a small storage area for municipal use. – the plans say.

“In addition to these works, a new council parking space will be provided adjacent to the building on the west side for access to the store and servicing the toilets.

“No changes will be made to the highway as the existing curb is available for access to hard parking.”

Somerset Council planners will now consider the scheme. To find out more information and comment on the plans, log on to somerset.gov.uk and search application number 43/24/0094.
