Dog lost near busy A38 road rescued by Somerset volunteers

With the help of a group of volunteers, a dog has been reunited with its owner after going missing near the A38 for three days.

Sarah, a Romanian rescue mix, became lost near the Perry Elm roundabout when she slipped off her seat belt on Thursday, October 10.

Following the Facebook post, Sarah’s owner was contacted by dog ​​”database” Dog Lost Somerset, who sent a number of volunteers with equipment and distributed photos and flyers throughout the community.

Sarah’s owner, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “I was very concerned about her safety being so close to the A38.

“She took off her seatbelt on Thursday evening near our home address, ran away and was missing until 4.30pm on Sunday.

“She’s a nervous dog and I had a few sleepless nights.

“I’m so glad we were able to find her, and it’s thanks to Dog Lost. I don’t believe we would have found it without their support.”

Sarah lives with her companion dog Misty, who helped her owner in the search.

The owner said community members have been a huge help, sharing missing information online and promptly contacting them with any sightings.

Following the rescue, Sarah underwent a canine first aid test with trained Dog Lost volunteers.

“She’s definitely lost a little weight, but she’s bouncing back,” her owner said.

“I am so grateful to the Dog Lost volunteers.

“It’s fantastic how the community has come together.”
