Tranmere man jailed for child sex offenses – Birkenhead News

A Tranmere man has been jailed for 12 months after pleading guilty to possessing indecent images of children.

Peter Mulligan, 62, from Tranmere, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, October 21, after admitting possessing indecent images/pseudo-images of a child, three counts of making indecent images/pseudo-images of a child, possession of extreme pornographic images. / images of animals and the presence of a prohibited image of a child.

Officers arrested Mulligan in July 2024 after executing a warrant at his home and finding several devices containing horrifying images.

As well as the prison sentence, Mulligan was also given a ten-year sexual harm prevention order.

Detective Sergeant Rory Quigley said: “Mulligan’s sentencing follows a lengthy investigation that has seen him brought to justice to pay for his crimes.

“Merseyside Police is fully committed to protecting children from sexual abuse and those who seek to harm them.

“We hope Mulligan will now consider the consequences of his grossly depraved actions while serving a prison sentence.”

Detective Sergeant Quigley added: “We have specialists who investigate such crimes and provide full support to victims and their families.

“We take all reports like this very seriously and if you find the courage to come forward and speak to us, our team will treat you with sensitivity and compassion.”
