As a result of Russian drone attacks in the Sumy region of Ukraine, three people were killed, including a child.

Russia’s overnight attacks killed three people in Sumy, northeastern Ukraine, where Moscow has stepped up bombing in recent months, local officials said on Tuesday.

Sumy lies across the border from the Kursk region in southwest Russia, where Ukrainian troops launched a major offensive in August and managed to hold much of the territory.

“Three people, including one child, died as a result of a night attack by enemy drones on residential buildings,” regional authorities said.

According to them, more than two dozen Iranian-developed attack drones were shot down over the region. Ukraine The Air Force said that a total of 60 drones were detected in Ukrainian airspace.

Russia has regularly bombed the capital of the Sumy region since the start of the full-scale invasion. Russian troops briefly captured part of the city’s industrial sector before being driven back.

Message from The Moscow Times:

Dear readers,

We are facing unprecedented challenges. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office has designated The Moscow Times as an “undesirable” organization, criminalizing our work and putting our employees at risk of prosecution. This follows on from our previous unfair label of “foreign agent.”

These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim that our work “discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership.” We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate and objective reporting on Russia.

We, journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to remain silent. But to continue our work, we need your help.

Your support, no matter how small, makes a huge difference. If you can, please support us monthly, starting with just $2. It’s quick to set up and every contribution has a significant impact.
