The reason Mohamed Kudoos could face a two-month Premier League ban

The reason Mohamed Kudoos could face a two-month Premier League ban

After the opening goal, many West Ham fans were surprised by the final 4–1 defeat. Even at half-time the Hammers were level at 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspurs and their midfield and defense looked in good shape. However, the home team played brilliantly in the second half and led the match 4-1 until the hour mark.

Several West Ham players were unhappy with their performance and Hammers striker Mohammed Kudoos was also shown a red card. Kudus had a poor start to the season for both club and country and was clearly frustrated by West Ham’s defense throughout the second half.

Kudus later fouled Tottenham stars Mickey Van De Ven and Papa Mathare Sarr, for which the referee gave him a straight red card. The Premier League will issue a three-match ban to any player who receives a straight red card, but Kudus could also face a two-month ban.

Recently, former Premier League referee Mike Dean analyzed the 24-year-old striker’s foul, saying:

“Because he hit two different players in the face twice. He must do this. I think he’ll end it twice.”

Dean stressed that Kudus fouled two players and could therefore receive two separate three-match bans. If that happens, Kudus will miss six matches for Julen Lopetegui’s side, meaning he will be available to play against Wolves in December.

Five of the next six matches will be extremely important for West Ham and could decide Julen Lopetegui’s managerial future at the club. Therefore, the absence of a star player like Mohamed Qudoos from these league matches is a major blow to West Ham’s ambitions of finishing in the top six of the Premier League.

The Hammers have not always been consistently scoring goals in front of goal and manager Julen Lopetegui will now have to implement a new formation to solve West Ham’s goalscoring woes.
