Tulsa Nonprofits Addressing Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Share $5 Million Grant | Charity news

Tulsa, Oklahoma, nonprofits Children’s Advocacy Network (CAN) and Family Safety Center (FSC) have received a joint $5 million grant from the AR Foundation and Marylouise Tandy. Tulsa World reports.

The funds will be used to complete construction of a 10-acre campus named after the foundation and housing for both organizations. The CAN facilities, a 34,000-square-foot facility opening in 2023, provide free intervention services to victims of child abuse and their families. The Family Safety Center’s new 65,000-square-foot home, to be completed in 2025, will offer comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, elder abuse and human trafficking.

“We have found that there is often overlap between families seeking services from CAN and families seeking services from FSC,” said CAN Executive Director Maura Guten. “Co-locating on the same campus makes sense and will facilitate access to services from both agencies.”

The gift is part of the expenses of the fund, founded in 1985 and administered by its trustee, the Oklahoma Trust Company. “We are thrilled to partner with these organizations as one of the latest gifts from the AR and Marylouise Tandy Foundation,” said Trust President Michael Hopper. “I can’t imagine this gift going to any better organization.”
