Flood leaves sheriff stuck on top of car

Chaves County Sheriff Mike Herrington said he had to climb onto the roof of his car as rising floodwaters trapped the car and several other vehicles, submerging them up to their windows.

According to the BBC’s US partner CBS, 309 people were rescued and at least two people were killed in the flooding. The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Herrington was rescued and uninjured.
