Explosives and Firearms Personnel: Christchurch Police Exercise

Explosives and Firearms Personnel: Christchurch Police Exercise

Police will conduct a training exercise at Burnside High School in Christchurch from Wednesday to Friday.

The spokesman said there would be an increased police presence in the area between 3pm and 8pm each day during the exercise.

“This presence will include explosives and personnel with firearms.

“During this time, you may hear loud bangs coming from the direction of the venue – a beep will sound before each loud bang.

“Police will be working in the fenced demolition area and police training signs will be visible.

“Police would like to reassure residents of the area that there is no cause for concern as this is a routine training exercise.

“Training is an important component of policing that allows officers to be best prepared to keep our communities safe.”

Residents with questions or concerns about the exercise should call 105.
