Jelly Roll declares X “toxic” and promises to leave

Jelly Roll has was it with negativity on X, the social network formerly known as Twitter.

The I’m Not Okay star shared an update on Sunday (October 20) sharing his shock and dismay at all the hate he sees on X.

“This is by far the most toxic negative app ever made – PERIOD,” Jelley wrote.

“This place is different, man,” he continues.

“I always heard it was the Wild West here, but damn, this is crazy. It’s a safe place where everyone can say nasty things to each other without any consequences. I’m leaving lol,” he concludes.

It’s unclear whether Gelli was talking about negativity in general or negativity directed at him specifically.

If he decides to get rid of X, it won’t be the first time he’s left the platform: Jelly has actually deactivated his profile several times. Back in April, his wife Bunny Ho explained that he decided to leave social media due to fat shaming and bullying on the platform.

Not much has changed there. On the same day that Jelly posted his statement about toxicity on social media, rapper Azealia Banks launched a tirade of hate and fat shaming directed at him.

Banks, who is perhaps best known for her song “212,” posted a slew of profane and sarcastic tweets on Sunday about Jelly, hick-hop music and his new duet with Russ. Some of her posts were about his weight.

“I can’t deal with all these fat white men in music right now,” Banks complained in one tweet, seemingly in response to Jelly knocking Charli XCX’s “Brat” out of the top spot. Billboard diagrams.

“YOU ARE NOT EVEN IN THE INDUSTRY B–HU IS ENDING THE TALENT SHOW WITH CHA FAT A–,” she said in another, responding to a tweet posted by Jelly about the dark side of the music industry.

The country singer has never competed in a popular talent show or competition, but he has been a special musical guest and mentor on American Idol in the past.

It’s unclear whether Jelly’s latest posts have anything to do with Banks’ tirade against him. However, he has often expressed a desire to give up social media after completing an album cycle or major tours.

“On the last day of the tour I will throw my phone in the Cumberland River,” he joked in an Oct. 6 tweet.

Jelly’s latest album Beautifully Brokencame out earlier this month.
