“The side slit adds sophistication and the flattering silhouette is a chic choice for any occasion.”

The midi length and simple, chic design of the dress make it easy to dress up or down, offering endless possibilities for layering.

It can be paired with an oversized scarf and boots for a casual outing, or worn under a smart coat for a more sophisticated look.

The versatility of the dress makes it perfect for colder weather when you still want to look put together.

This dress will take you straight from the office to an evening out.

Shoppers praised the dress for its affordable price and how easily it can be paired with other winter pieces.

And the neutral charcoal shade makes it easy to combine with a variety of accessories.

Why the police were called to the opening of the first Dunnes Stores

BETWEEN weekly grocery shopping and bargain fashion, Dunnes Stores is the go-to retailer for Irish households.

But this wasn’t always the case, and when the first branch of the store opened its doors in 1944, it caused quite a stir.

On 31 March that year, Ben Dunne opened the first ever Dunnes Stores on St Patrick’s Street, Co Cork.

Locals quickly learned of the grand opening and flooded the store in what the retailer’s archives call a “shopping frenzy.”

One of the factors behind the excitement was the bargain clothing sold in the new store at “pre-war prices.”

During the chaos, a window was forced open and gardaí were called to the scene.

Officers worked to manage the eager crowd and ensure shoppers were calm and safe before they reached the store for their first visit to Dunn’s.

Fast forward some 80 years and the business now employs more than 18,000 people, and although the opening of the Dunnes branch didn’t create as much excitement when it first started, it has cemented its place as one of the country’s leading retailers.

Dunnes Stores now has 138 stores across Europe:

  • 118 in Ireland,
  • 15 in Northern Ireland
  • Five stores in Spain.

As the Christmas season approaches, the popular fashion giant has launched everyone’s favorite holiday pajama set.

Dunnes Stores’ new Christmas knitted woven pajama set costs €15 and is guaranteed to “provide a comfortable night’s sleep”.

Includes a long-sleeved ribbed top with a button neck and plaid buttons, an elastic waist and wide legs.

The top is a gorgeous bright red, making it the perfect festive color for the holidays.

The trousers have a beautiful red and white gingham pattern.

A pajama set can be complemented with a pair of fluffy socks and a warm blanket on frosty winter evenings – and a cup of hot chocolate will add extra charm to the coziness.
